Southco AMC Module Handles and Light Pipes
Southco’s AdvancedMC Module Handles and Light Pipes
Southco has introduced a series of Module Handle and Light Pipe offerings to meet the PICMG telecom industry specifications created to standardize the physical format and interconnection of telecom server equipment. All of these products meet the requirements of the AdvancedMC® standards for mezzanine card modules (AMC.0). AdvancedMC Module Handles, available in multiple sizes, provide the means to lock modules into place and to ensure automatic operation of microswitches that signal a graceful power-down sequence before a component can be removed. Light Pipe options include a series of configurations for carrying signals from color-coded LEDs to the module faceplate to indicate the operating status of the mezzanine card. These components are part of Southco’s total access hardware solution for AdvancedTCA®, AdvancedMC®, and MicroTCA® specifications within the PICMG standards.
Key Customer Benefits
- Multiple module handle and light pipe options satisfy all levels of the AMC.0 standards (including R1.0 and R2.0), allowing for flexibility in module sizes and configuration on the carrier board
- Intuitive module handle operation automatically disengages microswitch for hot swappability of mezzanine card modules, making it easy for field-technicians to secure and remove modules
- Easy-to-install module handle assembly simply snaps into the faceplate, to save time during installation
- Ergonomic module handle makes faceplate design simpler and easier, and provides built-in ridges for sure grip to help users engage and disengage handle and remove mezzanine card
- A spring-mounted cam locks the mezzanine card module firmly in place when the module handle is fully inserted
- Light pipe brackets include both the light pipe housings and the light pipes, which can be sold separately
